I cut out the rough outline of the neck last week, but didn't get to the scroll part until
yesterday. Unfortunately, I mucked it up. I wasn't careful enough in the saw angle, and ended up
cutting too close toward the centre of the scroll. You can see in the picture above that the
scroll cutout isn't perpendicular.
Fortunately, I have several extra pieces of
maple, two of which are already roughed out. I'm not sure why they haven't been used, but I'll
examine them carefully to see if one can be used this time. If not, I purchased a spare neck
block from Atlantic Violin Supplies last time, so I can start from the beginning if necessary.
