The replacement neck is coming along. The scroll is now nicely taking shape. It always amazes me
how it just gradually takes on the right shape as you remove little bits of wood. I was using
one of my father's earlier insturments as a visual guide. The biggest challenge I have had, not
only on this piece but several before it, is keeping the eye to the right size. It's a tiny
difference between "too large" and "too small". At this point I may be a little nearer the "too
small" size, but it's better than a couple I've done.
This week I'll rough out the
outside of the scroll and drill out the pegbox. If that goes well, I may get to sanding the
perimeter of the bottom plate.
