I have been toying for years with a design for a Maker's Mark. This past week I drew out my
design, although tilted instead of the upright version I had long envisioned. The balance seems
better this way. After chiseling out the pattern, I applied a light red oil paint into the
incision. Once it dries, I will sand the button flat, which should nicely highlight the mark.
I have no idea how this will look with the final varnish applied over top. No doubt
it will be less obvious, but hopefully it won't totally blend into the background.
