In the course of 3 days I was able to completely form the outsides of all 4 plates. The spruce
cuts like butter, so it was no problem to quickly approach the right shapes, then get a nice
smooth and consistent form. The maple on the other hand, took much more time. The birdseyes in
the larger plate were particularly challenging. However, the end result is a piece with lots of
character.
I also trimmed all the edges to final thickness and laid out the "F"
holes. On the larger instrument I interpolated the locations based on the overall length. This
instrument will be unique, following no single classic pattern.
