Yesterday I spent a couple of pleasant hours cleaning up the scroll for Ashley's fiddle. It looked pretty good, but still needed some dimensions adjusted. Today I narrowed down the eyes to 42 mm across and adjusted the volute accordingly. That required a bit of adjustment on the detailing. Once that was all correct, I applied a 1mm bevel all around the scroll and did a finish sanding. All the dimensions but one are now very close to the Strad reference. The volute is a bit wide at one point, but it looks consistent.
Tonight is the Ottawa Woodworkers Association meeting. Due to other commitments I have not been able to attend in several months. I will take this neck along for the "Show and Tell"
