Shop notebook - September 2004 - October 2005
While making my 3rd instrument I kept a handwritten journal. I have scanned it, as well as transcribing the contents.
2005-2006
This was the first instrument for which I photographed each day's work. It was made under Paul's direction.
2008 - 2011
After a year's pause, I made violin 6 on my own. It took a long time, as work was often interrupted by "paying work". I did a lot of international travel in 2010 and 2011, so fitting in shop time was a challenge.
2012 - 2016
At the Goderich Celtic Festival in 2011 I was asked to make a custom violin, to be finished in black. It took a while to get started, as I was still traveling until early 2012. In addition, Jayne and I moved to Renfrew in September 2011, so work has been slow until I finish my new workshop. I decided that building two instruments shouldn't take double the time of doing one, so I am building a left-handed instrument in parallel.
